Our heart

The Market

This market is part of our commitment to reinventing how food assistance is provided, allowing shoppers to browse and choose from a variety of fresh produce, dairy, meats, bakery items, and pantry essentials. Shopping appointments are required, but no ID or proof of address is needed. Youth can shop too.

Solving Hunger on the Go

The Mobile Market

The Mobile Market, operated by the Arlington Food Bank, is a crucial initiative to ensure food accessibility for community members who can’t reach the Food Bank. The Market operates on a bi-weekly schedule, visiting different locations like The Villas at Lakewood, The Vintage Apartments, and Cedar Pointe Apartments among others. It was initiated in collaboration with Arlington High School Students, the City of Arlington, SMARTCAP, and Pivotal Construction. The partnerships have enabled the acquisition of a refrigerated mobile food pantry to better serve the community. The Market is operated by volunteers, and there’s a call for more volunteers to drive and operate during the market hours.

Combat Childhood Hunger

KidSmart

Ensuring No Child Goes Hungry in the Arlington School District with “KidSmart” Packs.

In a collaborative effort to combat childhood hunger, the Arlington School District proudly offers complimentary, nutritious meal packs for all its students.

These packs, filled with wholesome breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, are designed to provide sustenance during weekends and non-school days.

Available to every student in the district, including those who are home-schooled, these meal packs are a testament to our community’s commitment to the well-being of its young learners.

Parents and guardians can easily obtain these meal packs by clicking on the button above and by visiting any Arlington Public School, where registration can be completed through the school office, counselors, or teachers. Additionally, these essential meal packs are accessible at local food banks during their operating hours.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

A Simple Gesture

Here at Arlington Food Bank, we are constantly seeking ways to engage with our community and create avenues for easy, impactful contributions. One such initiative is our “A Simple Gesture” program, which began in 2015 in a neighboring community with just six families. Fast forward to 2022, and the program has expanded to include 650 generous donors and 100 devoted volunteers. Through this initiative, we’ve been able to receive 50,000 pounds of non-perishable food and personal items annually, valued at an impressive $150,000!

How it works

  1. Purchase Extra Items: During your regular grocery shopping, pick up one or more extra non-perishable food items.
  2. Place in the Cool ‘Red’ Bag: Store the extra item(s) in the designated cool ‘red’ bag provided by the program.
  3. Scheduled Collection: On the 2nd Saturday of EVEN months, a volunteer will swing by to collect your bag, leave a new bag for you, and ensure the items reach the Arlington Food Bank. Just leave the bag outside your front door, and we’ll handle the rest!

Enrolling in “A Simple Gesture” is a breeze!
