In the heart of the Arlington community, the Arlington Food Bank operates with a clear and focused mission – to eradicate hunger and provide food security to all, especially the young learners. Our “Meals ’til Monday” program is a cornerstone initiative aimed at ensuring that students from Pre-K to 12th grade in the Arlington School District have access to nutritious meals during the weekends or holidays.

The harsh reality is that 1 in 5 children in Western Washington experience food insecurity. This statistic is not just a number but represents faces, names, and dreams of our community’s future. The weekends can be particularly challenging for families facing food scarcity. The “Meals ’til Monday” program is our response to this critical community need, ensuring that our students have the nourishment they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

How It Works

  1. Supplemental Meal Packs: The program provides two-day supplemental meal packs. These packs are carefully assembled with easy-to-prepare, kid-friendly meals covering breakfast, lunch, and snack items.
  2. Registration and Pickup: Simple and accessible, students or their guardians can register and pick up these meal packs at any Arlington Public School. The process is streamlined – visit the school office, speak with a counselor, or come by during market hours: Mondays 5:00 pm-6:30 pm, Wednesdays 5:00 pm-6:30 pm, or Fridays 12:00 pm-1:30 pm2.
  3. Community Involvement: The success of the “Meals ’til Monday” program is a reflection of our community’s heart and commitment. We encourage everyone to spread the word, volunteer, and donate to support this initiative.

Supporting the Program

Your support is invaluable in sustaining and expanding the “Meals ’til Monday” program. Whether it’s through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading awareness, every bit counts. Donations can be made easily online Here. By contributing to this program, you’re not just providing a meal but fueling a child’s potential and making a lasting impact in our community.

The Impact

The “Meals ’til Monday” program is more than just about providing food; it’s about nurturing our young ones, fostering a sense of community, and building a stronger, hunger-free Arlington. Each meal pack symbolizes hope, care, and the promise of a nourished, brighter future. Join us in this meaningful endeavor. Your involvement in the “Meals ’til Monday” program is a step towards a more nourished, educated, and empowered generation. Together, we can make a significant difference and move closer to a hunger-free Arlington, one meal pack at a time.
